We give hope to families knowing that they can be rescued and survive any "Social Service Tsunami."

“Tsunami” is a Japanese word in which “tsu” means harbor and “nami” means wave. Thus the word means “harbor wave.”

A tsunami is a series of waves of extremely long wavelength that are usually caused by a strong disturbance of the water, such as an underwater earthquake, landslide, or volcanic eruption; a meteorite can also cause a tsunami.

The waves travel outward in all directions from the disturbance, similar to what you would see if you threw a rock in a pond.

The average wave speed is 450 miles per hour.

Tsunami waves differ dramatically from traditional waves in that the tsunami waves have great depth, extending from the ocean floor the to water’s surface. The height above the water may be only a few inches, but the huge wave is actually “hidden” in the water below.

Traditional surface waves, such as those you would see at an ocean coastline, are shallow waves; they are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon, sun, and planets, or by wind.

Because of the great depth of the tsunami waves, when they hit the coastline their height may increase from a few inches to tens of feet. And the tremendous speed of the waves (about 500 miles per hour) can carry the tsunamis a great distance onto land, flooding areas, destroying structures, and injuring or killing people.

Social Service Tsunami:

The county will come in with every type of wave unimaginable. You are hit waves after wave and their job(when they KNOW) is to wear you down. I have  said to them and will again "When the Social Service Tsunami wave hit, and when it was over my children were gone and I dove back in to recover ever last one of them and you(Jeffco) have been made ever since."

 Respondent Parent:

There are many labels out there and when you get involved with "the department", they will stick you with another. "Respondent Parent!"  Here's the catch, if you do "respond" you are cast into another light. You can be called "controlling, manipulative and an advocate".

"The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants".

Yet radical ideologues have successfully campaigned to pass laws that contravene these findings and act to destroy children, families, and marriages on a previously unimagined scale. No one of us can combat these evils, but standing together we can, and have made a difference.

These are not battles that will be won overnight and victory will never be complete. But we are turning the tide on repression and darkness.

For the first 10 days we didn't know where our children were and social services said they didn't have to tell us. When we saw our children, our sons ran to us and our daughter just stood there with a cold stare. Just shaking her head back and forth like she was seeing ghosts. It was like we abandoned them and just gave them away. Cheryl Hyink noted this as our daughter not wanting us. Though as her parents we knew how she was feeling. She stood there in disbelief.

Boston Attorney Kevin Seaver, who specializes in these cases, gave a spirited presentation that was well received. He exhorted the audience to “never, ever give up.” “DSS is the biggest bully in the schoolyard, but if you punch his lights out, he won’t come back at you,” he said.

Seaver said he loves to put social workers on the stand and ask them about their educational background, whether they are licensed, and if they have their own children or a substance abuse problem. He can often get a case dismissed by exposing their lack of qualifications. He also recommends packing the courtroom with supporters.

Seaver said DSS likes to prey on poor people, yet child-abuse accusations cut across all lines. He said, for example, he had a case referred to him recently involving accusations against a doctor from Massachusetts General Hospital who is a cutting edge researcher recognized around the world.

DSS will come out to your home and say soothingly that, “We are here to help you,” and offer voluntary services, said Seaver. “Six months later, you have a voluntary service that turns into a summons that reads your parental rights can be terminated. It doesn’t square. It doesn’t make sense. Think about that.”

You get your kids back by being vigilant and pro-active, not by whining, said Seaver. He said you have to form a plan and then gather all your evidence, because preparation is nine tenths of the battle. Pore over all reports and then reread them, he said. A DSS investigator may have ignored reams of exculpatory information. Know who the DSS people are that are involved. Keep a detailed notebook of calls you made to them, etc. regarding your case.

Are ALL Social Service Agencies like this? El Paso county, Colorado under the direction of Barb Drake has made things for the better. I am very impressed with how much they have come to understand that we are all in this together and not forgetting who's children they are.

Often the case workers swear that their Placenta was attached to the children or they given the other chromosome.

Where are you at in this process?

The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Parents is all about sacrifice.

What Social Services is good at is removing Power from people. When this is accomplished then, there goes choices.
